Surfing & Water Sports

The Southwest coast of Nicaragua boasts some of the best uncrowded surf breaks in Central America — with Rancho Santana having four of the best spots right on the property!

The Ranch’s steady offshore breezes — courtesy of nearby Lake Nicaragua and the Caribbean Sea —  combine with perfectly angled coastline to turn Pacific swells into world-class surf conditions almost 330 days out of the year. No matter the time or tide, there is always something happening for the novice and professional surfer alike, with long beaches and secluded coves offering everything from A-framed beach breaks to classic point breaks. When the conditions get big, a tow-in session on one of the outer reefs is just a short panga ride away.

Of course, surfing isn’t the only thing to do in Rancho Santana’s warm Pacific water; sport fishing, diving, spear fishing, snorkeling and swimming are all just as convenient as the perfect waves. The coves are havens for lobster, the beaches and rocks are great fishing platforms for red snapper, and just a few miles out on a panga skiff and you’re into schools of Wahoo and Mahi mahi.
